There's been a few comments on the sniper server thread about bad use of the kick votes.

As I think this is quite an important problem I reckon it needs a thread of its own...

Don't know how to transfer any of the posts over though :?

as long as it doesnt end up with a decent player getting kicked then i cant see a problem, 1 or 2 kick votes dont do any harm just take it as a compliment if ur doing well. if anybody as kicked unnessacerily then ask an admin to take a look at the individual situation

The comments on the other thread refer to strong players kick voting weaker players on their team amongst other things - not very encouraging for new players!

Also, there was a suggestion that truff regulars challenge lame kicking en masse

I find it quite upsetting to get constant abuse and kick votes everytime I win a sniper map on the relics or CnG servers.

I truly know how you feel... I get abused on the relics servers on a constant basis whenever I choose to play there, thankfully so far each time it has went too far - an admin has come to the server to handle it.. nevertheless, it makes me worry that the situation has gone that bad.

It seems there's a hard-core of vote-lamers on some truff servers who'll try to votekick the highest scorer, regardless of how they played.

So, unusually for me I'm going to try to be positive and make a suggestion:

Whenever somebody vote-kicks the highest scorer, and you know they haven't been laming, I suggest we all cry "Lamer vote kick!" and "Why kick just because they're better?" and stuff like that and try to shame the bad sports into playing nice.

Think it might help?

:? There is sometimes the added annoyance of the players who consider themselves wonderful kick voting weaker team mates in CTF etc. I've watched it happen and it is unfair if that player has tried their best - how are they ever going to improve? Even if they don't get enough votes to remove them from the game it must be totally demoralising. :?

Shaming them out of that behaviour would be good if they weren't too thick-skinned or thick-headed to notice that the remark was aimed at them.

Excellent comment, Batty. A long time ago, I got a kick vote on the insta server. It was one of my first times playing Insta and I wanted to give it a try since it is a popular game style. To this day, I don't play very often -- and will only join if I see other truff regulars. I know it is stupid but it actually hurt my feelings. I'm sure that others have experienced something like this and it doesn't fit in with a friendly playing community.

It is important to speak up if you do see someone kick voted or talked to unfairly whether it be for good/dominating play or inexperienced play. Good comments from both Flash and Batty on this one :D

Dot

PS: As an aside, I still suck at insta
PSS: We have seen some progress here since Willow kicked butt yesterday on CnG (Bridge too Far -- what else :P ) and did not receive a single kick vote.

With regard to kick voting I do tend to ignore it or give them a LOL or thank you if it is aimed at me. If it is aimed at one of the regular players I tend to make a joke of it - you're popular today - or whatever, which usually stops it.

But a thought has just occurred to me, perhaps we should all be more positive as regards the servers. I own up that I very rarely wear the TrufF tag, and quite a few other members that play don't wear theirs! Should we all be wearing them all the time to let people know that TrufF members do exist and they are on our servers! I seem to remember a post in the old forum about someone getting stick for wearing the tag but if we can overcome that it may help with both reclaim and the kick vote problem.

This may or may not help, comments please! :)

(PS: I have personally only once done a kick vote - and that was by accident! )

Great post Batty , and Dot i can sympathize completely !!!! When i first started playin online , I used to play the Truff JB/CTF server as often as i cud .. I remember joinin a game fairly l8 on and ended the game with the lowest score on our team . However a cpl of my team mates were clearly a bit annoyed at havin lost the game , and there was banter between the teams at the end , durin which I asked ... "what does stfu mean " .... ( i was still learnin ;) ) the only response i got from a team member was " Kick the noob plz " at which point i started watchin the kick votes pile up against me :( :( .... well i got kicked from the server , and it was doubly gutting as it was from my own team !!!!
However , me being me ... I tend to get more annoyed by these things than upset , and lookin back i know it was occassions like this which motivated me to become better n better ... I often see the players who instigated the kick against me , they are well known at Truff , and they still get Extra attention when i see them on the servers if ya know what I mean ;)

As i said on the other thread whenever I get kick votes I laugh or say "kick me harder I like the pain"

If anyone has an issue with the misuse of the kcick vote system then they can contact an admin who can look into it.

Alternitivley we could use a great initiative that Davis of Barnsley has started and make use of the reclaim nights, its about being pro active. Use your tag and be involved in reclaim as well as reporting stuff to admins who are able to deal with this stuff on a higher level.

If it was only the kickvotes, but for me it seems mostly to be just plain abuse, very hostile in that, also.. I usually just laugh off/thank/smile at people starting the now very common accusations and insults, but no that doesn't help against these people.. I find it hard to believe how hostile enviroment some of the Truff servers have become.. or well, at least how hostile DM+Relics has become, can't say much about the rest... I really think that this thing has gotten way out of hand and should require some action... however, I can't really say what would help this, if anything would... I just know that something should be done..
