Would like to do this side-jump by hitting a button just once??
Does anybody know a solution??

Yeh I*d like that for my mouse button too. As I use Side Dodge on A and D and forward on Right mouse, no matter what I set double click time, either Keyboard or Mouse lag for dodging due to physical matters :(. Theres a mutator for that dodging by just one tap. However, as u know, you*d need to run your own server to be able to use that.

It isn't possible. Not without "external" help anyway.

Dodge Bind
Since UT was released people have been trying to write a keybind that lets them dodge with one key. As far as I know, this hasn't been achieved - except possibly with some programmable controllers (like keypads etc). Without cheating some players can dodge frequently and repeatedly, so don't think of it as a cheat. The server controls the pause between dodges too, and if you see someone dodging too quickly, it's probably a dodge-jump-dodge combo. Some might not even consider this a cheat anyway, given that the Hammer-Jump bind is so accepted in Assault.
Update 13/4/03: It's been confirmed and in use. By addressing the windows API directly the cheat can dodge continually - usually forward in insta-ctf/dom to gain speed.

Thx. One more Question:The server controls the pause between dodges too, and if you see someone dodging too quickly, it's probably a dodge-jump-dodge combo
What is a dodge-jump-dodge-combo??

Because of the limits UT sets on time between dodges you can't do a dodge immediately after another dodge (there's always a slight delay).
So to do a dodge-jump-dodge combo you first do your dodge, then at its apex hit jump (you'll know when you've done this properly as the player model will go into a funky shaped animation, then when you land you will be able to perform another dodge. You effectively turn you first dodge into a jump and you will stay in the air a little longer, but when you do your next dodge it will look like you've dodged twice in a row.
Try it on a map with plenty of space, turn the bots off and do "behindview 1" in the console to see its effects. It seems fairly easy to do this offline, but i've only occasionally seen people do it online.

Dodge right then jump left then dodge right, or vice versa. Bots can do triple dodges but they cheat ;) .

I use the nostromo speed pad and I have been able to (but don't) use it to program the secondary mouse wheel so that by twirling the wheel forward or backwards a dodge is achieved. This would be less useful to do with the mouse though as you would lose your weapons change buttons.

I have a Belkin Nostromo speedpad that lets ya bind 1 button strafes, but I think couple of year ago Epic said it was a cheat. I wouldnt use it for that anyways,, tis pointless

nah, ya look newby by doin it, cus ya get shot too easy.
Best way to move imo, is to keep dodging, mebbe move alil with ya arrow keys to confuse them abit.. keep mixing it :)
