Hi, Is anyone else experiencing long page loading times on the new site. I am on a BT 512kbps (down) & 256kbps (up). Firstly I noticed its only really long with the "Metal Tech" Theme, I ran a tracert command to see what was happening on the route hopping. Heres what I got...

My m8 who is on a Bulldog 2mb (down) & 256kbps (up) ran a tracert too and this is what he got...

I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this as I like the Metal Tech Theme but its a bit slow loading.

Thx ppl,
JiP

ThePlanet appears to be having routing problems. I'm getting a similar tracert to you (from Nildram) but I'm also seeing the route changing every couple of seconds.

I suspect that someone is busy trying to fix things as we type...

no problems here whatsoever. Pages loading ok for me.

I hadn't been getting any problems, but in researching his problem I got a very slow page load as the routing changed. I think it depends if you just happen to hit the system at the wrong time.

Just had another look and there are bad problems with verio.net - route changes, dropped packets, high pings, the lot. Yet from using the forum I'd never know it's not optimal.

I read in PCFormat that there is a bug in the prescott cpu that prevents it working with win xp SP2 unless you upgrade your bios. Did you find this to be a problem? I have avoided it (sp2) like the plague for this very reason as I don't want to have to risk ruining my m/board with a bios update, however I would like windows to be as up to date as possible. Any thoughts?

Guys, the planet aint having any router issues, your getting such high pings from the UK as theplanet is USA hosting, your pages should load up quickly, check your max connections etc, maybe metal theme has too many images for your connection to load at the one time? the 120pings are due to the usa hosting :)

I have BY 4mbit @ home and it loads fine for me, I also have all my webhosting on the same webserver as truff.net and its always fine.. Can load the pages nicely from work and I usa aol there ;p

It's not the high ping per se, it's the dropped packets and really high pings! But you're correct that it isn't ThePlanet (it can look like it if you happen to catch it at the wrong time). The problem now is verio.net which is switching routes almost as fast as it can be pinged. Many of the routers you end up on are dropping packets.
